HCC offers an Exercise science and Health A.S. degree and Community Health Concentration, Exercise Science and Health A.S. degree. The program was created in response to the increased awareness of health in the community both in applying this knowledge to the care of both healthy individuals and those individuals with chronic health conditions and injuries.
The Exercise Science and Health Program will provide students the opportunity to study both the bio-mechanical and physiological aspects of human movement and healthy lifestyles as well as the factors involved in health initiatives in the community. Students in the program will complete a multi-disciplinary "core" set of courses within a structured, exploratory program of biological studies including human anatomy, foundations of exercise including exercise physiology, nutrition, and psychology.
Students who complete the required discipline, general education and highly recommended courses will be prepared to transfer to a 4-year institution to pursue higher degrees. Exercise Science and Health has many sub-disciplines including physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training, chiropractic medicine, exercise physiology, nutrition, biomechanics, sports and exercise psychology, sports medicine, health informatics, medical laboratory science.
