HCC Launches Electric Vehicle Technician Certificate Program
The Workforce Solutions and Continuing Education Division at Hagerstown Community College has launched an online, self-paced electric vehicle technician certificate program in partnership with George Brown College.
This program is intended to address the needs for more skilled individuals to support the growth of electric vehicles. The program provides over 300 hours of training for automotive mechanics interested in increasing technical knowledge to diagnose, service, and repair high voltage electric vehicles.
The program is also useful for other trades professionals, such as electricians, to learn how to install, design and maintain residential or commercial charging stations.
“While the demand for electric vehicles is increasing dramatically, the infrastructure to support EV’s is still developing,” said Jack Drooger, Program Manager for Trades and Transportation in the HCC Workforce Solutions & Continuing Education department. “This program will provide a new, flexible entry point for individuals seeking to obtain skills in the EV market.”
