HCC Alumni Association makes $30,000 donation
(September 30, 2020) – The Hagerstown Community College Alumni Association recently made a $30,000 donation to the HCC Foundation and received naming rights for two business HIVE offices on the third floor of HCC’s Center for Business and Entrepreneurial Studies, which is currently under construction.
The CBES construction project is a renovation of the former HCC Technical Innovation Center. The HIVE offices will be a collaborative work space for the building’s occupants and students. The rooms will be named in honor of late HJC alumnus, and local businessman, Donald L. Spickler, class of 1958, and are a gift from the association in his memory.
“The late Donald Spickler was an HJC graduate and a successful area business person, who loved his alma mater. The HCC Alumni Association is pleased to name the new HIVE Offices in CBES in honor of Don and feel that he would be proud to have his name associated with the nurturing of innovative businesses in our community,” said Lisa Stewart, coordinator of alumni relations and annual giving.
The CBES is expected to open in 2021 and will bring together HCC’s credit and non-credit business programs, HCC’s business incubator, and area business and industry leaders.
