Bridging the Antietam Institute
November 4 & 5
Explore local history, memory, and stories. This two-day event starts on Friday night at 7 pm in the Kepler Theater with a keynote presentation from local storyteller Adam Booth. On Saturday, tune into livestream Zoom sessions featuring local historians, storytellers, educators, and students speaking about their work studying and teaching about the Antietam Creek Region HCC serves.
One World Festival
November 15 | 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Enjoy food and cultural displays throughout campus, featuring CBES food incubators and HCC students and employees showcasing their home cultures. Sponsored by Pi Theta Chapter, HCC’s Pi Theta Kappa Student Honor Society.
Martin Luther King Jr. Diversity Celebration

“History has thrust something upon me from which I cannot turn away.” Join us in Kepler Theater for this annual event. Featuring Wendi Perry, Curator for the Doleman Black Heritage Museum.

Celebrate Douglass Day 2023 on February 14 by participating in a walking tour, presentation on Frederick Douglass' connections to Hagerstown, and transcribe-a-thon/birthday party. Register to participate.

Walking with the President
April 19 | 3 p.m. at the C&O Canal
Inspired by the HCC Big Read book, “Walking to Listen” by Andrew Forsthoefel, this event will be led by HCC President Jim Klauber on Wednesday, April 19, 2023. It will provide an opportunity for participants to walk together on the tow path and listen to the stories of others they meet along the way. The walk will begin at 3 p.m. at the C&O Canal. Transportation will be available from HCC, the bus will be leaving at 2:30 p.m.
