HCC Owl Cam
HCC Owl Cam
This Owl Cam was provided by HCC Middle College student Jake Klauber, as part of his Eagle Scout Project with the Boy Scouts of America. Jake is a member of Troop 20 in Boonsboro, and proposed to build and place three owl boxes and ten bat houses across the HCC Campus. Each owl box was built specifically for a species of owl that is indigenous to the Western Maryland area. One box, built for a Barn Owl, has this camera in place in the hopes of filming a nesting owl family. The camera is powered by a solar panel with a battery support.
Many thanks go to the HCC Alumni Association for providing a $500 grant to cover the costs of the houses and camera, the HCC Board of Trustees for their support, the HCC Facilities and IT Departments for placement and networking, and the Scouts of Troop 20 Boonsboro, Maryland for their help in assembling the boxes and houses.
