HCC’s Health Information Management Program receives accreditation
The Health Information Management Program at Hagerstown Community College has received initial accreditation for seven years by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).
“Being accredited speaks to the credibility of the HIM curriculum offered at HCC," said Tanda Emanuel, HCC assistant professor, and program coordinator. “It affirms that our graduates will be career-ready to enter a vast array of opportunities within the healthcare industry.”
The Health Information Management Program at HCC provides students with the knowledge and skills to prepare them as healthcare professionals who will manage data in any format in a variety of settings such as doctor's offices, hospitals, insurance companies, and other health-related employment settings. The associate degree is offered in health information management, and a certificate is offered in electronic health records.
The comprehensive program review conducted by the Health Information Management Accreditation Council and the CAHIIM Board of Directors recognizes the program’s substantial compliance with the nationally established CAHIIM 2018 Health Information Management Accreditation Standards.
