HCC Upward Bound Program accepting applications
(March 15, 2021) – The TRIO Upward Bound (UB) Program at Hagerstown Community College is now accepting applications for the 2021-2022 academic school year. Applications are for current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors at target Washington County Public High Schools that meet the eligibility criteria.
The Upward Bound Program is designed to assist low-income and/or first-generation college bound high school students in the successful completion of secondary education by preparing them both academically and socially for enrollment and completion of higher education. Eligible program participants who demonstrate academic need may be identified at one of the four target high schools including: North Hagerstown High School, South Hagerstown High School, Williamsport High School, and Hancock High School.
Each year the Upward Bound Program provides opportunities to a minimum of 72 students with tutoring services; college-preparatory workshops; academic, college, and financial aid advising; career exploration; leadership opportunities; college visits and cultural enrichment. The program also includes an extensive summer academy on the HCC campus, designed to further increase academic readiness and the ability to earn credits towards both high school and college graduation.
