HCC receives donation to establish second Brooke’s House Scholarship
The Hagerstown Community College Foundation recently received an endowment for a second scholarship to benefit residents of Brooke’s House, a nonprofit organization in Hagerstown, that provides treatment and recovery services to help residents achieve their dreams of living drug-free, productive lives.
The Murray Family Scholarship, donated by Kathleen and Michael Murray, will support educational opportunities specifically for graduates of Brooke’s House, as they continue their journeys toward rewarding careers. The Murrays were inspired to endow the scholarship with the HCC Foundation, following a similar donation by friends Katharine and Kent Oliver.
The Murray Family Scholarship will assist Brooke’s House graduates in completing a degree or certificate program at HCC. The scholarship eligibility criteria include full- or part-time enrollment and a GPA of 2.0 or greater. Selections for the scholarship will be made by Kevin Simmers, executive director of the organization.
The scholarship will award its first recipient in the fall 2024 semester. To learn more about the scholarship, or to inquire how to establish a similar endowment, contact the HCC College Advancement Office at 240-500-2348, or visit www.hagerstowncc.edu/hcc-foundation.
