HCC radiography student appointed to student leadership program
Abigail Recabo, a radiography student at Hagerstown Community College, has been selected by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists to represent medical imaging students in its Student Leadership Development Program. She is one of two students in Maryland to be selected for the program, and the first student from HCC.
Recabo, of Hagerstown, expects to graduate from HCC in May, with an associate degree in radiography. She is a student board member of the ASRT, participates in a mentoring program, and assists with social media management for the organization.
The ASRT Student Leadership Development Program is a three-year program that offers students a chance to get to know the ASRT, attend educational sessions, and network with medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals. Applications are open to all radiography students across the country.
As part of her involvement with ASRT, Recabo will attend the Governance and House of Delegates meeting, as well as the Educational Symposium in Orlando, Florida, in June.
Recabo has been chosen to be the student speaker at HCC’s Health Sciences Pinning Ceremony in May. At that event, she will receive the Judith Kofoet Professionalism Award for Radiography, which is given each year to the outstanding graduate who has contributed to the profession and community through volunteer service.
