HCC to offer Online Hazmat Endorsement Training

This fall, the Workforce Solutions and Continuing Education Division at Hagerstown Community College is offering open enrollment for a self-paced, online Hazardous Materials (hazmat) Endorsement Training for commercial drivers, which meets the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requirements.

Under the FMCSA’s new Entry Level Driving Training (ELDT) program, the course addresses the knowledge requirements to test for a hazmat endorsement at state licensing agencies. Students will learn how to apply FMCSA regulations to identify, inspect, handle and transport hazardous material, especially related to spills and containment.

“Providing the transportation industry with an easy to access and affordable solution to meet the new federal regulations was a major goal of creating this product,” said Jack Drooger, HCC program manager for transportation safety. “The online hazmat endorsement training will help companies stay in compliance and provide commercial drivers with preparatory tools for adding the endorsement.”
