HCC to host virtual Earth Day event

(April 12, 2021) – Hagerstown Community College will host an Earth Day event on Thursday, April 22, via Zoom.

The event will start at 1 p.m., with a showing of the Discovery documentary “The Story of Plastic,” followed by a panel discussion at approximately 2:30 p.m.

The theme of this year’s event is plastic waste reduction. The panel discussion will include reflections on “The Story of Plastic,” the human and environmental aspects of plastic pollution, current legislative efforts in Maryland to curtail plastic pollution, the status of plastic recycling in Washington County, and plastic pollution and environmental justice. Panelists include: Dr. Rebecca Beecroft, Michael Brandt, Anthony Drury, Peggy Mothershed, and Dr. Eric Schwartz.
