HCC grad, Tehya Poole, receives USM Scholarship

Hagerstown Community College 2024 graduate Tehya Poole has been selected to receive the prestigious Kelly Access Opportunity Grant through the University System of Maryland. She will receive $4,000 per year for two years.

Poole, of Fairplay, is a 2022 graduate of the Boyd J. Michael, III Technical High School. She earned an associate degree in cybersecurity from HCC in May. This fall, she is attending the University of Maryland Global Campus to continue on the cybersecurity track. After completing a bachelor’s degree, she plans to pursue penetration testing to help secure people’s intellectual property.

The Kelly Access Opportunity Grant is a competitive scholarship process, for eligible students who have completed a minimum of 56 college credits, with a 3.8 Grade Point Average or higher, have demonstrated financial need based on the FAFSA, and are in pursuit of any major leading to a bachelor’s degree at any USM Institution.
