HCC collecting hurricane relief supplies

HCC collecting hurricane relief supplies

Officials at Hagerstown Community College are currently collecting supplies to help those affected by Hurricane Helene. HCC is working in coordination with Western Piedmont Community College in Burke County, N.C., to distribute the supplies.

Community members are invited to support this initiative by donating essential items, which include the following:

  • Blankets
  • Brooms
  • Buckets
  • Buddy heaters
  • Camping chairs
  • Camping stoves
  • Candles
  • Charcoal
  • Charcoal grills
  • Cleaning and mildew sprays
  • Coats for adults and children
  • Detergent
  • Dish towels
  • Dishwashing soap
  • Disposable utensils
  • Fire starters
  • Gloves
  • Green pads
  • Grilling utensils
  • Mops
  • Plastic plates
  • Rakes
  • Rubber gloves
  • Shovels
  • Sleeping bags
  • Totes
  • Towels
  • Trash bags
  • Wash rags
  • Winter hats
     

Donation Drop-off Locations and Hours:

There will be drop-off boxes in various buildings on HCC’s campus at 11400 Robinwood Drive in Hagerstown.

Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

  • Athletic, Recreation, and Community Center (ARCC)

Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

  • Administration and Student Affairs Building (ASA)
  • Career Programs Building (CPB)
  • Learning Resource Center (LRC)
  • AC&T Student Center (STC)

Donations of these supplies will be accepted through October 30. Monetary donations are not being accepted at this time. D.M. Bowman, Inc., has donated a trailer to collect donations, and a driver to transport supplies from HCC to WPCC. For more information, visit www.hagerstowncc.edu/hurricanerelief.
