Applications Open for Heavy Equipment Operator Program

Applications are now being accepted for the spring start of Hagerstown Community College’s heavy equipment operator program. The 100-hour program will begin on March 29 and will run through the spring, with evening and weekend classes.

The heavy equipment operator program provides students with entry-level skills for earth moving on construction sites. Students practice hands-on use of a variety of construction equipment while focusing on safe operation and preventive maintenance at the work site. Class activities include proper mounting, startup procedures, and basic movements of the machine and its attachments. Training equipment includes skid loaders, excavators, and backhoes.
