Introduction to Microscopes
(MS/HS) Students are introduced to magnifying tools and their use in biology. They used hand lenses, then dissecting microscopes and finally compound microscopes to examine a specimen and gain an understanding of how to use these magnifying tools and their applications. Examples of specimens used are a fruit fly, vinegar eels, and the single-celled protist euglena. Materials available: Supplies list and directions, link to free student worksheet.
