CSTEP Construction Skilled Trades Employment Pathways

Construction companies have a constant demand for qualified employees. Join other motivated individuals in earning your opportunity for a new career through our workforce construction trades programs. Grant funding is available for qualified Maryland residents.

What programs are offered under CSTEP?

Pre-Apprenticeship Construction CORE – The pre-apprenticeship program serves as a gateway to the trades with an overview of the industry, worksite safety, construction math and more. CORE completers are ready for employment in the industry or Registered Apprenticeship.

Registered Apprenticeship/Craft Training – More in-depth training is available for the specific trades of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or carpentry. Participants can move into Year 1 of a Registered Apprenticeship program with partner trades associations and their employers. Additional training is available under the grant to enhance training for existing Year 1 apprentices.

Heavy/Construction Equipment Operator – Equipment operator training provides approximately 100 hours of course time and the entry-level skills required to start a career with heavy equipment. The program covers the safety and skills needed to operate skid loaders, mini-excavators, backhoes, and more.
