New Student Orientation

Hagerstown Community College's Student Activities Office will be offering New Student Orientation for incoming fall 2022 students. There will be three in-person orientation sessions on campus in August. You are welcome to attend whichever session fits your schedule best.

A raffle will be held for a new laptop, to be given away for in-person attendance at the New Student Orientation. All registered new students who attend in person will be entered into a drawing to take place on Monday, August 29. One winner will be chosen to receive a brand new laptop from the campus store.

Each session will contain general information about campus resources, services, policies, and classroom expectations. In addition, each session will have targeted information for specific groups of students:
 

  • Wednesday, Aug. 24, 6 – 8 p.m., beginning in the Student Center main dining area: for all students, but focused on veterans/military students and adult learners Highlights support services for veterans and active military students, opportunities for internships and career services, tutoring help in the Learning Support Center, and ways to pay for college
     
  • Friday, Aug. 26, 10 a.m. – noon, beginning in the Student Center main dining area: for all students, but focused on students taking online and hybrid classes Highlights online support services and resources, how to navigate HCC’s website, online class expectations, staying connected to campus
     
  • Saturday, Aug. 27, 1 – 3 p.m., beginning in the Kepler Theater: for all students, but focused on Middle College students, students just out of high school, and their parents/guardians Highlights differences between high school & college classes, campus life, connecting with professors and peers, how to support your new college student
