Grahl named director at HCC

Marti Grahl has been appointed the director of Developmental Education and Adult Literacy Services (DEALS) at Hagerstown Community College. She has served as the interim director for the past year.

“Working with the students, faculty, and staff of HCC in this position is an honor,” Grahl said. “I am grateful to serve with strong team members in the DEALS division who are committed to cultivating the best learning environments possible for our students.”

In this position, Grahl is responsible for the planning, budgeting, and administration of the DEALS division. She provides supervision of faculty and instruction for developmental credit courses, programming and grant funding for Adult Literacy Services, and oversight for HCC’s Learning Support Center.

Grahl has been employed at HCC since 2008, when she began as an instructional specialist in the Student Success Center and an adjunct instructor of developmental English and academic success. She worked as a learning support specialist for 13 years, and became an intake, assessment, and transition specialist for the Program of Adult Literacy Services in 2021. She has a bachelor’s degree in English and communications from Shepherd University and a master’s degree in pastoral ministry from Global Awakening Theological Seminary.
