Developing a Bee Hive on HCC Campus
- The yellow buckets in the trees are bee swarm traps. They are used to capture swarms before relocating them to hives. These traps specifically will collect swarms that will be placed in a hive on campus, being built in the coming weeks.
- HCC’s Advanced Beekeeping class is able to utilize the swarm traps to cultivate and nurture the bee population on campus to ultimately benefit the surrounding environment.
- Swarming season for bees is typically between March and mid-May.
- If you see a lot of activity around the traps, please feel free call the phone number on the trap to have it tended to.
