Admission Requirements - Early College Degree Program

The Early College Degree Program (ECDP) at Hagerstown Community College (HCC) is for high school juniors and seniors only.

College and Career Readiness Standards

Students must meet established College and Career Readiness standards to participate in the ECDP.

  1. The first indicator of college readiness is a 3.0 high school GPA.
  2. If a student does not meet the GPA standard, HCC placement testing, MCAP scores, or SAT/ACT scores can also be used to determine college readiness.
     

High School Courses

Students must have completed Algebra ll to participate in the ECDP.

Select Programs - Additional Requirements

Students interested in the following STEM programs must meet additional requirements: Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Mathematics, Physics.

  • All of the programs listed above require a 3.75 high school GPA. Students that have a 3.5 - 3.75 high school GPA will be placed in General Studies for the first semester. If they earn at least a 3.5 college GPA during their first semester, they can transition into their program of choice.
  • Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, and Physics require the completion of high school chemistry.
     

*Interested students should still apply (by the deadline) even if they have not yet met these requirements. If requirements are fulfilled over the summer (before the fall semester begins), then they can be accepted at that time.
