Construction Equipment Operator Training Scholarships

Enhance your skills or launch a new career operating heavy equipment. HCC's 100-hour operator training focuses on creating a safe construction environment while learning the skills for on-the-job success. Hands-on operation includes the most common types of equipment found on the job site including skid loaders, graders, excavators, and backhoes. Optional dump truck driver training is available including CDL Class B licensing to increase your employment options. 

Topics include: 

  • Safely using equipment at a worksite
  • Performing inspection and equipment startup
  • Identifying preventive maintenance issues
  • Practicing digging and trenching operations
  • Moving and grading materials
     

Applicants must complete the following:

  • Participants must be 18 years of age or older
  • Successfully pass a non-DOT drug screen
  • Complete the scholarship application
  • Upload ALL required documentation
  • Applicants MUST complete the WorkKeys Assessment prior to registering for courses
     

Details about the scholarship process:

  • Documentation can be securely uploaded through the application link
  • Scholarships take approximately two weeks for approval
  • Scholarships may cover all or part of the program cost

Maryland Workforce Development Sequence Scholarships

The Workforce Development Sequence Scholarship available through the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) is designed to provide all or partial financial assistance to students interested in registering for approved non-credit certification programs that lead to employment or licensure. 
 

EARN Green SITE Construction Grant

Prepare for apprenticeship or employment in the skilled trade through a grant program provided by the Maryland Department of Labor. the Construction Trades CORE program runs throughout the year and is the gateway to Registered Apprenticeship.
