Alcohol and Other Drug Resources
Alcohol and Other Drug Resources
HCC recognizes that drug and alcohol abuse present serious threats to individual health and community safety. As such, HCC strives to maintain a campus free from the illegal use and abuse of alcohol, and from the use, possession, or distribution of illegal drugs (including cannabis which remains illegal per federal law). HCC realizes that addiction plays a role in the lives of some students and seeks to provide supportive services to help students in their recovery. Students will receive information at New Student Orientation and during their First-Year Experience course. Please contact the Dean of Students Office for more information or support.
Alcoholics Anonymous
When the College is open, AA meetings occur each Monday from 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. in the Learning Resource Center Room 261. The only requirement for attendance is a desire to stop drinking.
- Local AA Hotline: 240-850-2677
Narcan/Naloxone Training
HCC partners with the Washington County Health Department’s Opioid Misuse Prevention initiative, Project Act NOW, to offer Naloxone (or Narcan) overdose prevention kit training to HCC faculty, staff, and students on campus and at no charge. Anyone with a concern that a loved one is at risk of overdosing on heroin or prescription pain medication should attend to learn how to recognize, respond to, and prevent opioid overdose.
