Supplemental Application for Radiography Program

Supplemental Application for Radiography Program

BEFORE SUBMITTING A SUPPLEMENTAL APPLICATION FOR A NURSING PROGRAM, YOU MUST SUBMIT AN ADMISSION APPLICATION.

The supplemental application for Radiography and the following requirements must be completed and submitted to the Admissions Office by February 1st.

  1. A completed Radiography Program Observation Form showing 8 hours of observation. Forms are only good for one application cycle. Observations must be completed between June 15th and December 15th. Forms are due by Feb 1st but please try to submit them by December 15th so they can be reviewed.

  2. Submit official transcripts from all colleges attended by the program application deadline (Feb 1st). HCC calculates cumulative GPA from all colleges attended as part of the scoring process (students who took classes at HCC do not need to submit official HCC transcripts). All transcripts must be complete and show grades or outcomes for each class taken or the status of in-progress for classes that are in-progress at the program application deadline. Transcripts from outside of the United States must be evaluated by World Education Services (wes.org).

  3. Complete the TEAS test by the program application deadline (Feb 1st) with minimum scores of 60% Overall, 69% in Reading, 65% in science, and a 65% in Math. Official scores must be submitted to the Admissions Office (students who took the TEAS test at HCC do not need to submit an official copy but are asked to bring a copy of the scores or email the scores to the Admissions Office). TEAS scores are valid for 3 years. An explanation of the TEAS test can be found at www.hagerstowncc.edu/teas.

  4. Applicants must have BIO 116 completed at the program application deadline (Feb 1st). Also, it is strongly recommended that the following courses are completed at the program application deadline: an Arts/Humanities Elective, ENG 101 - English Composition, MAT 114 - Introduction to Applied Algebra, and PSY 101 - General Psychology. If these courses are not completed, they must be in-progress at the application deadline. Students receive more points towards the program if all of these courses are completed by the program application deadline.

  5. Attend a Radiography Information Session. HCC hosts four sessions each year (one in the spring, one in the summer, and two in the fall).

Completion of all required science courses within five years prior to the application deadline to the program is required.

A minimum cumulative grade point average for all college coursework of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale is required. In addition, a minimum grade point average of 2.5 for all program-required general education courses. While this is the minimum requirement, it is advised that students have the highest-grade point average possible for the best chance of being selected into the program.

A grade of “C” or higher is required for all program required general education courses. “D’s” and “F’s” must be retaken and completed before applying for the program. While this is the minimum requirement, it is recommended that students obtain the highest grade possible in each class.

The Radiography program is a Maryland Health Manpower Shortage program. All students who apply for this program must be eligible to work in the State of Maryland at the application deadline and throughout the program.
