The Hagerstown Community College Alumni Association will host its final Red, White and Blue Summer Concert on Fri., Sept. 10, when the U.S. Air Force Airmen of Note take the stage at 6 p.m., in HCC’s Alumni Amphitheater.
The U.S. Air Force Airmen of Note was first created in 1950 in the tradition of Major Glenn Miller’s Army Air Corps dance band. Today, the Airmen of Note perform a variety of big band and jazz arrangements under the direction of Senior Master Sergeant Joseph Jackson and through the creative innovation of Master Sergeant Alan Baylock, the group’s current chief arranger. The group has performed alongside world-famous jazz musicians such as Dizzy Gillespie, Sarah Vaughan, Joe Williams, and Nancy Williams.
This concert is free and open to the public. The Red, White and Blue Summer Concert Series is sponsored by the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Joint Veterans Council, and Amvets Department Service Foundation, Inc.
