This August, Hagerstown Community College’s summer enrichment program, College for Kids, will offer a brand new course entitled, “Girls Exploring Engineering,” from Aug. 3 through Aug. 7.
“Girls Exploring Engineering” is specifically geared toward girls entering grades six through eight who are interested in science, technology, engineering, or math. The course will include hands-on activities that involve designing, building, and testing. As part of the course, students will also take a field trip to NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, where they will experience a two-hour tour of the Center’s testing and engineering facilities, a computer visualization tour of the earth and planets called “Science on a Sphere,” and a self-guided scavenger hunt of topics at the Visitor Center.
Grants recently received have lowered the cost of the program to $83 for the entire week including materials and registration fees.
