Hagerstown Community College recently graduated 48 students in the Certified Nursing Assistant / Geriatric Nursing Assistant (CNA/GNA) program. The graduation ceremony took place on Wed., May 6, in HCC’s Classroom Building. Students were presented with certificates and pins by Deb McClain, HCC instructor, CNA/GNA and Certified Medicine Aide.
Graduates included Donald Cooper and Christie Fischer, both of Big Pool; Amber Crummitt and David Funk, both of Boonsboro; Sarah Stocks, of Gapland, Pa.; Bethany Amos, Catherine Beer, Sarah Bloomingdale, Kristine Brodka, Stevette Carter, Malika Chambers, Oranda Chukwu, Susan Cole, Elizabeth Debold, Fatima Diaw, Tyanna Fox, Andreana Gonzalez, Ashley Jackson, Christopher Jackson, Andrea Johnson, Phillip Kaplon, Kayla Kendle, Kyle McKoy, Diane Metz, Melissa Moquin, Stephanie Myers, Leslie Palencia, Dawn Smoot, Sylvia Stevens, Brittney Stroud, Mario Trinidad, Alyssa Unruh, Cynthia Vaverchak, Shaysa Villa, Julia Watkins, all of Hagerstown; Cristina Fernandez, Sarah Johnson, and Kimberly Snavely, all of Keedysville; Misty Wilson, of Maugansville; Matthew Gorsuch and Lola Reed, both of Martinsburg, W.Va.; Tiffany Dluhy, of Sabillasville; Krystyn Ferraiuolo and Destiney Munson, both of Smithsburg; Hannah Wood, of Waynesboro, Pa.; and Christa Flessner, Kaitlyn Koontz, and Melissa Riefler, all of Williamsport.
The CNA/GNA program is a seven-credit-hour program that awards students with a letter of recognition upon completion. Course content includes disease processes, systems review, nutrition, and infection control. Successful completion of the program allows students to be registered with the Maryland Board of Nursing as a certified nursing assistant. Students who have completed the program are also eligible to sit for the state exam for geriatric nursing assistants.
