Judith Oleks, Ed.D., has been named vice president of academic affairs at Hagerstown Community College.

In this position, Dr. Oleks will serve as the chief instructional officer of the college and will be responsible for the supervision, evaluation, and planning of the academic programs and related support services. She will also be responsible for faculty evaluation and related professional development programs and the development of the academic outcomes assessment program.
“I am elated at the prospect of working with the faculty, students and staff at Hagerstown Community College where excellence in teaching and learning is primary to student success, and I look forward to the challenge of expanding academic offerings to reflect the needs of the greater Hagerstown community," said Oleks.
Oleks comes to HCC after having served more than 18 years at Bunker Hill Community College in Boston, Ma. She most recently held the position of dean of professional studies and previously served as director of management information systems, acting dean of math/science/technology, department chair, and professor. She has a doctoral degree in higher education administration from the University of Massachusetts, a master’s degree in mathematics from the University of Lowell, and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Salem State College.
The position has been vacant since June 30, when Julian Sidlowski retired. Oleks will assume her duties at HCC on October 24.
