This summer, HCC will offer IST 155 Networking I for Information Systems Technology (IST) students from June 4 through Aug. 12. This class is a hybrid course and will include both online and on-campus components.
Normally held only in the fall, this course introduces the architecture, structure, functions, components, and models of the Internet and other computer networks. It uses the OSI and TCP layered models to examine the nature and roles of protocols and services at the application, network, data link, and physical layers in conjunction with the Cisco Networking Academy. The principles and structure of IP addressing and the fundamentals of Ethernet concepts, media, and operations are introduced to provide a foundation for the curriculum. Introductory router/switch device configuration skills are also included. (Prerequisites: IST 108 and IST 154 or equivalent work experience.)
This course is one of several Cisco training courses offered at HCC. To learn more about HCC's Cisco offerings, view the PDF below.
