Students in the Veterans Club at Hagerstown Community College will hold a special Veterans Day event on Thurs., Nov. 8, beginning at 11 a.m., in the Student Center on HCC’s main campus.
The event will include a presentation of colors by the Bulldog Detachment of the Marine Corps League, an invocation by Pastor John Miller, a local missionary, a performance of the national anthem by Miller’s wife Melissa, and several guest speakers. A representative from Senator Barbara Mikulski’s office (D-Md.) will also present a flag, that has flown over the nation’s capital, to members of the student club.
Immediately following the ceremony, the documentary “Restrepo,” a feature-length film that chronicles the deployment of a U.S. platoon in Afghanistan, will be shown at 12:30 p.m. in the Student Center conference room. Please note that this film is rated R and is for mature audiences only. Snacks will be provided by the Veterans Club.
