As Hagerstown Community College works to secure the final $1 million dollars in its $5 million scholarship and capital campaign, its foundation board members want to remind the public that the HCC Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. As such, donations to the HCC Foundation are tax-deductible to the extent allowable by law.
Year-end donors may want to consider transferring gifts of appreciated stock to the HCC Foundation. The Pension Protection Act of 2006 allows distributions from Individual Retirement Accounts to go to qualifying charities without being taxed. The opportunity to take advantage of this particular type of distribution ends December 31. Consult your financial advisor for further details.
The HCC Foundation provides financial assistance for scholarships and capital needs that are not met through traditional sources of funding. For more information on the campaign and opportunities to make a charitable gift to the HCC Foundation, contact Lieba Cohen at 301-790-2800, ext. 213.
