Hagerstown Community College is offering a comprehensive 50-hour course to prepare students to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s exam. It will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 6 to 9:30 p.m., March 4 through April 29 on the campus of HCC.
Technicians work in various health care settings under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. The course covers medical terminology specific to the pharmacy, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining drugs by generic and brand names. Students will learn dosage calculations, I.V. flow rates, drug compounding, dose conversions, dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control, and billing and reimbursement.
