Hagerstown Community College’s Center for Continuing Education is offering two courses on genealogy research beginning February 1 at the HCC Valley Mall Center.
The first class, “Tracing Your Family Roots,” is an introductory course that highlights the rewards family tree research, the most current reference tools, where to find source documents and more. The class meets Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to noon through February 22.
The second class, “Genealogy Plus,” is for students who are in the process of researching their family history and would like to explore additional resources. The course guides students through new and innovative computer-generated research techniques using Family Tree Maker, Heritage Quest, DNA research and the Internet. The class meets Fridays from 1:30 to 4 p.m. through February 22.
A genealogy research trip to Washington D.C. to use the DAR Library, the Library of Congress or the National Archives is being offered on Tuesday, March 25, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Fee of $35 includes motor coach transportation/gratuity. An additional admission fee of $6 will be charged if students visit the DAR Library.
