The Hagerstown Community College Alumni Association will host the U.S. Air Force Concert Band and the U.S. Air Force Singing Sergeants as part of its annual Red, White and Blue Concert Series, on Sun., June 8, at 4 p.m., in HCC’s Alumni Amphitheater.
The U.S. Air Force Concert Band is the largest symphonic wind ensemble in the United States Air Force Band. The Concert Band presents more than 100 concerts annually and performs a wide variety of music from light classics, popular favorites, and instrumental features, to classical transcriptions and original works. The Concert Band performs regularly for the general public in the greater Washington, D.C. area and on biannual community relations tours throughout the United States.
The U.S. Air Force Singing Sergeants is a 21-member choral group under the direction and management of Chief Master Sergeant Kelly J. Egan. The Singing Sergeants was originally formed in 1945 as an offshoot from the U.S. Air Force Band,and is now composed entirely of professional vocalists who have come from universities and music conservatories all over the world. The Singing Sergeants is comprised entirely of sergeants from the U.S. Air Force and is one of the few singing groups to be internationally recognized for its commitment to excellence in vocal performance.
