The Hagerstown Community College Alumni Association will host the 78th Army Band as part of its annual Red, White and Blue Summer Concert Series, on Thurs., July 7, at 6:30 p.m., in HCC’s Alumni Amphitheater.
The 78th Army Band was first formed in 1943 in Camp Butner, N.C. as part of the U.S. Army Reserves. The band was active during World War II, receiving numerous commendations for its performances. The band now performs under the direction of Warrant Officer Eric Flowers and is comprised of several musical performance teams (MPTs), a concert band, and a marching band. During its performance at HCC, the band will primarily play big band music.
Co-sponsored by the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau, this concert is free and is open to the public.
