Borrowing Policies
Borrowing Library Materials | Behavior & Noise | Acceptable Computer Use
Library Circulation Policies for HCC Students:
- In order to check-out materials from the library’s circulating collection or reserve shelf, students must present their HCC student I.D. card.
- Check-outs and Fines:
- Circulation Books: 15 item limit, 3 week check-out, $.10 per day overdue, per item.
- DVD and VHS Tapes: 3 item limit, 1 week check-out, $1.00 per day overdue, per item.
- Reserve Materials: 2 item limit, 2 day/5 day/7 day item check-out, $1.00 per day overdue, per item.
- Renewals: 2 renewals are permitted for circulation books only and must be renewed before the item reaches overdue status. No renewals for DVDs or VHS tapes.
- Notice: Library items that are 15 weeks overdue will be considered “lost.” A charge of $65.00 is assessed for each “lost” library item. A charge of up to $65.00 is also assessed for library materials that are returned damaged.
Library Circulation Policies for the General Public:
- An off-campus borrower’s account can be set-up for members of the general public interested in checking-out material from the library’s circulating collection. A valid driver’s license or photo identification with proof of current address is required to set-up an off-campus borrower’s account. A non-refundable fee of $10 is charged to out-of-state residents to obtain off-campus borrowing privileges.
