Upcoming Scholarship Deadlines (June 2012)

HCC offers scholarships from a variety of community organizations. There are four community scholarships with June deadlines and one HCC scholarship with a July 1 deadline.

Abbott and Fenner Business Consultants Scholarship

Abbott & Fenner are committed to continuing our efforts at helping those who have the desire and ambition to succeed. The winner(s) of this annual scholarship will receive their award within 2 weeks of the listed deadline. All applicants should include their full name and mailing address with their submissions.

BigSun Scholarship

The BigSun Organization is proud to be able to continue to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits.  We are offering an annual scholarship to a deserving student.  All student athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they are participating in.

Deadline: June 22, 2012

Amount of Award: $500.00

The successful applicant will be a high school senior or be attending a post secondary institute and currently involved in some sport at that institution or in the community.
 

The Randy Pausch Scholarship

The Randy Pausch Scholarship Fund has been established to support students who are pursuing careers specializing in the development of interactive entertainment. Possible career paths include (but are not limited to) art, animation, programming, engineering, game direction, game design, sound design, and music composition.

Awards:
Two $2,500 scholarships to two different students for the 2012-2013 academic school year.

Application Deadline:
Completed/signed application with all supporting documentation must be postmarked by June 29, 2012.

Applications for the Randy Pausch Scholarship will be processed in July 2012. The Academy will announce the winners in August 2012.

CableTV.com Scholarship

The CableTV.com Psychological Impact of TV Scholarship is open to current or prospective college students who are enrolled or are planning on enrolling in a college or university program. The scholarship can be applied to any accredited U.S. university. Essays will be no longer than 1000 words in length and will be judged by professional writers. The criteria by which the essays will be judged are:

• Originality and effectiveness of argument
• Depth of information
• Grammar

Opportunity Fund Scholarship

The Opportunity Fund provides financial assistance to students who may not normally qualify for funding based on financial guidelines established by governmental bodies and private foundations. Rather, it is an institutional award that is renewable each semester.

Applicants must demonstrate an acceptable level of academic achievement (minimum 2.5 GPA) in addition to contributing through leadership roles on campus. The Opportunity Fund may also be used for students majoring in one of the many STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) programs offered at HCC. Preference also is given to those students who need additional funds to attend school on a full-time basis.

Applications are reviewed by an internal committee. Applicants must apply for the scholarship each semester.
