Submitted by Leigh-Anne Mauk on Mon, 02/06/2012 - 12:20pm
Apr 28 2012 - 8:00pm - 10:00pm
HCC will present its annual Kreykenbohm lecture series on Sat., April 28, at 8 p.m., in the newly renovated Kepler Center on HCC’s main campus. The lecture series is named after Helen Kreykenbohm, a retired professor of foreign languages and former humanities division chair at HCC. Held annually each year, the Kreykenbohm lecture series seeks to promote the arts and humanities in the local area.
This year’s lecture will feature New York Times Book Review author and nationally known poet Mary Jo Salter. Salter is an accomplished poet, essayist, lyricist, and playwright, who has received numerous awards for her work. She has served as a staff editor at The Atlantic Monthly, a poetry editor at The New Republic, and a co-editor of The Norton Anthology of Poetry. Currently, Salter serves as a professor and co-chair of the writing seminars department at Johns Hopkins University. Her sixth volume of poetry, “A Phone Call to the Future: New and Selected Poems,” was published in 2008.
This event is free and is open to the public. A book signing will be held immediately following the lecture. For more information, call 240-500-2245, or email jmjohnson@hagerstowncc.edu.
