HCC’s EMS program receives accreditation
Submitted by Leigh-Anne Mauk on Fri, 04/06/2012 - 3:48pm
Hagerstown Community College’s emergency medical services program recently received accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions.
Accreditation assures students that their education experience meets rigorous standards, with national acceptance and transferability, and serves as a roadmap to future EMS practice. This ongoing review will strengthen and improve the effectiveness and the quality of instruction of HCC’s program and afford the college new opportunities for clinical sites.
This five-year accreditation is based on a recent peer review by CoAEMSP. As a result of their findings, CAAHEP recognized the program’s substantial compliance with the nationally established accreditation standards.
HCC offers degree and certificate programs in emergency medical services, as well as a paramedic EMT-1 to EMT-2 bridge certificate. For more information, visit www.hagerstowncc.edu/academics/divisions/health-science/emt.
