HCC to offer ballet class
Submitted by Leigh-Anne Mauk on Tue, 03/20/2012 - 8:56am
The Continuing Education and Community Services Division at Hagerstown Community College is offering a class entitled, “Beginning Classical Ballet.” It will be held on Mondays, from April 9 through June 18, from 7 to 8:15 p.m., in the new dance studio in HCC’s Kepler Center.
This beginner’s level course will help participants strengthen their bodies, increase flexibility, and increase their appreciation of ballet as viewers. The instructor, Karen Carpenter, has been a professional ballet teacher and choreographer for more than 35 years. She was a former member of the City Center Joffrey Ballet Company, where she served as a personal assistant to Robert Joffrey. She founded the Alfred Ballet Company in Alfred, N.Y. This summer, she will be teaching for the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet.
The course fee is $85. To register or learn more, call 240-500-2236 or visit www.hagerstowncc.edu/coned/register.
