Submitted by Leigh-Anne Mauk on Wed, 10/19/2011 - 9:49am
The Hub Opera Ensemble will perform Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor on Fri., Oct. 21 and Sun., Oct. 23, in the Classroom Building Auditorium on HCC's main campus.
Show times are 7 p.m. each night. General admission is $15 for adults and $10 for seniors or students with a valid I.D. HCC students and staff many attend for free with a valid I.D.
Opera description:
Set against the moors of Scotland, a young girl becomes the pawn of a volatile feud between the Ravenswood and Ashton families. Based on Sir Walter Scott's classic novel, The Bride of Lammermoor, Lucia Ashton and Edgardo of Ravenswood conceal their forbidden love. However, plagued by financial setbacks, Enrico Ashton forces his sister, Lucia, into an arranged marriage to a powerful political figure. With Gaetano Donizetti's exquisite score, this psychological thriller is a roller-coaster of love, deception, murder, and suicide that can only spiral into sheer madness.
