Submitted by Leigh-Anne Mauk on Tue, 08/16/2011 - 8:03am
The Continuing Education and Community Services Division at Hagerstown Community College will offer a new grant-writing workshop, “Grant Writing – Show Me the Money ©,” in Oct. 2011.
Taught by nationally-renowned grant writer Denise Schlegel, this three-day workshop provides instruction for both beginning grant writers and experienced professionals. Topics include grant components and development, the identification of funding sources, and the submission process for grant proposals. The workshop will be held daily from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., beginning Tues., Oct. 18 and ending Thurs., Oct. 20, in the Career Programs Building on HCC’s main campus.
Cost is $315 per person after Sept. 15, 2011. Participants who register prior to Sept. 15 will be eligible to receive an early-bird registration rate of $265 per person. Registration fee includes all tuition, fees, and material costs including the “Show Me the Money ©” workbook. Students are asked to bring a project idea to the workshop and are also encouraged to provide a current funding announcement or a request for proposals.
An expert in her field, Schlegel has served as a peer grant reviewer for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security; has developed curriculum for the National Guard Bureau in Washington, D.C.; and facilitated strategic planning with the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. She is the president and founder of DS Schlegel and Associates, LLC and currently serves as the senior grant consultant and contributing author for PoliceOne.com.
