HCC dental assisting students give presentation to elementary school students
Submitted by Leigh-Anne Mauk on Tue, 06/28/2011 - 11:46am
Dental assisting students at Hagerstown Community College recently gave a dental awareness presentation to fourth grade students at Maugansville Elementary School.
The presentation focused on cavity awareness, healthy nutrition for teeth, and the dangers of smoking and smokeless tobacco. The presentation also included demonstrations on tooth brushing and flossing.
“Giving this presentation was a great way for HCC’s dental assisting students to teach fourth graders about the importance of taking care of their teeth and the harmful effects of drugs and tobacco,” says Theresa Marks, HCC instructor, dental assisting/hygiene. “It was a great opportunity for students to do some community service.”
Students who participated in the presentation included Allison Flynn, of Boonsboro; Cassandra Aleshire, Anna Banca, Hannah Barton, and Amy Snyder, all of Hagerstown; and Jennifer Yeakle, of Hancock.
