The Continuing Education and Community Services Division at Hagerstown Community College will host its fourth annual Guitar Mini-Fest on Sat., June 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., in the Elliott Center on the HCC campus.

This event is a hands-on, workshop-based festival in which participants learn new skills in various styles of guitar performance. This year’s workshops feature “Advancing Your Lead Rock Skills,” with Tobias Hurwitz, “Intro to Jazz Chord Melody,” with Danny Webber, “Expressive Fingerstyle Playing,” with Michael DeLalla, and “Latin Rhythms,” with Marcelo Berestovoy. All of the presenters are highly skilled and experienced private and classroom instructors.

Argentinean guitarist Berestovoy will present a concert of Latin, pop, and jazz music with a small ensemble of local musicians at 7 p.m. on the same day, in HCC’s Student Center. He has recorded and toured with some of the biggest names in Latin pop, including Paulina Rubio, Ricky Martin, Sergio Arau, and Leon Gieco. The concert is free and open to the public.

The cost of registration for the mini-fest is $60 and advance registration is required. Participants should bring a guitar and packed lunch. Music stands are optional. To register or learn more, call 301-790-2800, ext. 236, or visit www.hagerstowncc.edu/coned.
