Larry Sharpe Memorial held Feb. 23

A memorial for former HCC professor Larry Sharpe will be held on Wed., Feb. 23, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., in HCC's Athletic, Recreation and Community Center (ARCC). The public is invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the B’nai Abraham Elevator Fund at Congregation B’nai Abraham, 53 E. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, MD 21740; or HCC Athletic Scholarship Fund, c/o HCC Foundation, Attn. Lieba Cohen, 11400 Robinwood Drive, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
About Larry Sharpe
Former HJC professor Laurence “Larry” Sharpe passed away on Feb. 4, 2011 at the age of 88.
Sharpe was born on Feb. 9, 1922 in Chicago, Ill. He received his B.A. from Albion College in Michigan and his M.A. from Bradley University in Peoria, Ill., later completing additional graduate work at George Washington University.
He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II, Korea, and Vietnam and served in the U.S. Diplomatic Corps for 20 years as press attaché in Iran, Burma, Pakistan and Denmark.
Sharpe taught political science and communications at Hagerstown Community College, then Hagerstown Junior College, from 1970 to 1991. He retired from HJC in 1991.
