HCC students eligible to compete for transfer scholarship
Submitted by Leigh-Anne Mauk on Thu, 01/13/2011 - 12:07pm
Hagerstown Community College students planning transfer to the University of Baltimore are eligible to apply for the 2011 Wilson Presidential Scholarship.
This transfer scholarship covers 100 percent of in-state tuition per academic year. To be eligible, students must have a cross-institutional GPA of 3.5 or higher. The award covers four semesters of enrollment, excluding summer, if a University of Baltimore GPA of 3.25 is maintained. Students can apply one of two ways:
1. Through HCC or another Maryland community college. Each community college has a pre-determined number of nominations available. One of those nominees can be a part-time student. Nominations through community colleges are only available for students who are beginning in the fall 2011 semester.
Click the PDF links below to download or print an application and nomination form.
2. Directly through the University of Baltimore. Students should submit the Wilson Presidential Scholarship application, a 300 to 400-word essay, two letters of reference (at least one from a college faculty member), and all other supporting materials by March 1, 2011 for the fall semester and Nov. 1, 2011 for the spring semester.
Applications materials must be postmarked no later than March 1, 2011. For more information about this scholarship, go to www.ubalt.edu/financialaid.
