New Driver Education Class starts Jan. 10
Submitted by Leigh-Anne Mauk on Tue, 01/04/2011 - 10:02am
You can learn to drive at HCC! The next session of Driver Education classes starts Mon., Jan. 10. Classes are held Mondays and Wednesdays, from 6 to 9 p.m. each night.
The course includes 30 hours of classroom training, six hours of behind-the-wheel driving, and is required by the state of Maryland for all drivers obtaining their first drivers license.
- Thirty hours of classroom instruction will include discussion of space management, basic maneuvering, reducing risks, and personal factors influencing operator performance and collision avoidance.
- Six hours of individual student driving will be scheduled and begin after the fourth classroom session.
Each class will include a three-hour orientation and will acquaint students with the school's requirements and components of the Maryland's Graduated Driver Licensing Law. Attendance at the orientation is REQUIRED for students and parents/mentors.
The mandatory student/parent/mentor orientation for this class will be held Mon., Jan. 10, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Students are required to bring their learner's permit to the orientation class. The Learner's Permit is a State of Maryland requirement to complete the entire driver education course. Students without learner's permits will not be allowed to continue past the orientation class and will be rescheduled into a later class.
You do not have to be an HCC student to take Driver Education courses at HCC. For more information about the program or for a list of FAQ's, click here.
