How to Get Published Workshop

The Hagerstown Community College English Club is offering a workshop entitled, “How to Get Your Fiction Published,” on Mon., Oct. 4, in the Career Programs Building, beginning at 6 p.m.

The two-part workshop will feature guest speaker, Rebecca Coleman, author of “In Stereo Where Available,” written under the nom de plume Becky Anderson, and “Desperado City.”  Coleman will speak on her experiences with the publishing industry and will discuss the course that aspiring writers need to follow in order to see their fiction published. The lecture portion of the workshop is free.

Participants are also welcome to submit works of fiction for Coleman to review in a one-on-one critique for a $10 fee. Workshop participants can submit up to 3000 words for their critique. All submissions must be received by Mon., Sept. 27. Payment is due at the time of submission. Submissions can be dropped off or mailed to Hagerstown Community College, English and Humanities Division, 11400 Robinwood Drive, Classroom Building, room 133, Hagerstown, Md. 21742. In their submission packets, participants should include the following:
•    Excerpt/story of 3000 words or less
•    Check/money order made payable to Rebecca Coleman
•    Contact information including e-mail address
•    Preferred method of critique (online or in-person) and availability in late afternoon/early evening on Oct. 4
Participants will be contacted in advance to schedule their critique session.
