Hagerstown Community College’s Continuing Education and Community Services Division recently awarded completion certificates to 10 HCC students from the professional pet grooming program during a special ceremony on July 6 in The Merle S. Elliott Continuing Education and Conference Center on HCC’s main campus.

Completion certificates were presented to Isle-Marie Bramson, of Chewsville; Cathy Garling, Julie Nicodemus, Stash Nicodemus, and Jamie Yingling, all of Hagerstown; Kellie Koons, of Greencastle, Pa.; Jackie Kuempel, of Martinsburg, W.Va.; Hannah Nealis, of Keedysville; Debra Wachter, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; and Traci Walizer, of Waynesboro, Pa.

To receive their certificates, students in HCC’s professional pet grooming program had to complete three training courses: Professional Pet Groomer Principles, Professional Pet Groomer Practices Part I, and Professional Pet Groomer Practices Part II. Courses teach the fundamentals and terminology of pet grooming for dogs and cats and feature more than 23 hours of hands-on practice by the end of the program. Students work on-site at the Central Dawgma Pet Grooming in Hagerstown for the majority of their training. The next course starts in Sept. 2010.
