78th U.S. Army Band to perform June 29 at HCC

The Hagerstown Community College Alumni Association will host the 78th U.S. Army Band as part of its annual Red, White and Blue Summer Concert Series, on Tues., June 29, at 6 p.m., in HCC’s Alumni Amphitheater.

Part of the Army Reserves, the 78th U.S. Army Band was activated in 1943 in Camp Butner, N.C.  The band is based in Ft. Dix, N.J. Under the direction of First Sergeant W. Timothy Pawlik, the group performs as both a concert and marching band.  The HCC show will feature the concert band, which will play traditional military music including the National Anthem, U.S. army songs, and bugle calls.

This concert is free and open to the public.  The Red, White and Blue Summer Concert Series is sponsored by the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Joint Veterans Council, and Amvets Department Service Foundation, Inc.
