Advanced Stethoscope Skills
Submitted by Deborah M. Staley on Thu, 08/06/2009 - 10:50am
Mar 26 2010 - 9:00am - 4:30pm
Although most nurses own a stethoscope few know the full scope of capabilities of the stethoscope. This session goes beyond listening to the typical sounds and will teach participants what would be heard if a patient had pneumonia, congestive heart failure, a fracture or dislocation, pulmonary embolism, ARDS or a bowel obstruction. Participants will also learn how to determine liver size and more. Hands-on - participants should bring their own stethoscope to practice and learn how to perform a thorough and accurate assessment of heart, breath and abdominal sounds.
